Barbara O’Meara with a new course ‘Appealing Abstract Art Classes’. Barbara offers art classes on a Tuesday evening, from 7.30pm-9pm.

Learn to paint ‘from the heart’ in an abstract style inspired by & incorporating the pure raw energy of the Elements and of Nature. Each week you will create a vibrant abstract artwork guided by qualified Professional Visual Artist and facilitator Barbara O’Meara-( B.A (Hons) Degree Fine Art , Higher Diploma Community Art Education) who has two decades experience of designing creating, teaching & facilitating Art Workshops.

Immerse yourself in this fascinating subject, exploring the work of contemporary Abstract Artists. Discover and develop your own personal style using explosions of colour & form together with the freedom of self-expression, to create unique, lyrical & geometric art.



Barbara O’Meara

Barbara O’Meara is a professional multi-disciplinary artist with 9 Distinctions in FETAC Art, Ceramics & Design Awards, a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Fine Art & Post Graduate Higher Diploma in Community Arts Education both from the National College of Art & Design. She has had 12 Solo Exhibitions in Ireland/ Northern Ireland to-date.

She has been a featured Artist at International ‘Mind Body Spirit’ Expo R.D.S. Dublin 2014 & 2015. Her on-going studies include Contemporary Celtic Shamanism with Dublin based ‘Sli an Croi’ (2 years), Sacred Geometry, Personal Mandalas and Creativity with ‘Art to Heart’ in Ireland & Italy (5 years), She is a founding member of a creative writing group facilitated by an English Major Graduate of Notre Dame, USA . She has written numerous short stories & poems and is currently writing and illustrating her first book. In 2012 her paintings were selected from open submission for ‘Contemporary Irish Art’, an exhibition of six Irish Artists at New York’s Lockhart Gallery.

She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Ireland, U.K. and across Europe. As an undergraduate she was shortlisted for United Arts Club Markieviez Medal & the Rose Project Student Art Awards at The Lab, Foley St. In 2008 Artenade World Gallery selected her work to exhibit at their Winter Show in Tallinn Estonia. She was one of 50 selected emerging artists to exhibit at SCRATCH CHQ Dublin. Her work has also been selected to exhibit at: Dungannon Arts Festival, Enniskillen Arts Festival, Waterford Arts Festival, Wexford Arts Festival, Waterford Healing Arts Trust, In Bloom Festival, Bloomsday Arts Festival, Bray Arts Festival, Bealtaine Arts Festival, Liberties Arts Festival, Ranelagh Arts Festival & Youghal Arts Festival. In the past her submitted work has also been selected for Catalyst Arts Open, Impressions Annual Print Open, Mermaid Greenstar Open, Signal Arts Open.

Her work features in many private and public collections including Behaviour and Attitudes, E.S.B. & Microsoft Art Collections & the O.P.W. selected her Degree Show paintings for clients: Department of Foreign Affairs and Impact Trade Union. She has also exhibited at Dublin Culture Night 2007 & 2008. Recently her work was part of a two year worldwide touring exhibition of 100 International Artists – ‘The Drawing Box’ – which is now part of the NIVAL Collection. Over the past decade she has regularly exhibited with Italian Art Organisation ‘Il Barattolo’ most recently at Mondadori, Cost Arena Arts Centre & Incontri Europei Exhibitions in Bologna, Italy.

Alongside her own practice she also works as a Community Artist with various collaborative projects such as ‘Portraits of Pain’ sponsored by Pfizer Healthcare, N.C.A.D’s Public Art Placement Programme with Coolmine Addiction Group exhibiting at I.M.M.A, Northern Ireland’s Re-Generate Project ’09. In 2014 & 2015 she was invited artist at Tallaght Children’s Arts Festival with Alt Ents. Rua Red Art Centre designing and facilitating workshops for primary children in selected schools. She has also worked extensively on art projects with families of a registered bereavement support charity Advic. In 2014 she founded ‘Beyond the Blue’ Arts designing and facilitating creative workshops for community groups. She has worked on various projects with Jole Bortoli, Director of ‘Art to Heart’ in Dublin, the Burren. Co. Clare and Italy. She is facilitating painting workshops for National Grieving Day on 11th December.
