This 8-Week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction course (MBSR) is a clinically proven Intervention based on the acclaimed work of Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn (University of Massachusetts Medical Centre). MBSR is specifically designed not only to promote healthy ways to cope with stress, pain, and the challenges of everyday life but it is also about being fully awake to the many shades of our lives, open to the exquisite vividness of each moment. At heart, Mindfulness revitalizes and reconnects us to the power of our inner resources for insight, healing and transformation! Throughout this course you come to appreciate how the body handles and can resolve stress neurologically- by becoming familiar with the workings of your mind, noticing the times when you are at risk of getting caught in old habits, and exploring ways of recognizing those unhelpful habits and stressors as you begin to experiment with an alternative way of being- one which calls for kindness and welcomes compassion for the self.
The Skills of Mindfulness: Over the 2½ hour 8 weekly sessions + Full-Day retreat, Mindfulness is taught through a gentle blend of formal and informal meditations- (body scan meditation, sitting meditations, 3-step breathing space, body awareness and mindful movement practices), short presentations, group exercises and discussions.

All Participants receive a detailed MBSR guidebook and CDs of the three meditation practices. *It is important to note that the main ‘work’ of the course is accomplished by you at home supported by the CDs/Downloads. This requires devoting approximately 40 minutes per day to home practice.
About 47% of waking hours is spent thinking about what isn’t going on- That’s a lot of time spent in Distraction! As an alternative, Mindfulness is about paying attention to present moment experience with open curiosity and a willingness to be with what is.
